    Troops will be sent into Honduras' streets to help police combat a wave of violent crime, the government said Tuesday. Defense Minister Marlon Pascua told reporters that soldiers will be assigned to search vehicles and pedestrians and pursue criminal suspects. He did not specify when the troops would be deployed.

    Luis Antonio Chévez, host of programming for young people on the W105 radio station, and his cousin were shot dead on Monday in San Pedro Sula. The motive for the killing is unknown, but police have ruled out robbery. A silver bracelet and a considerable amount of cash were found among the victims' belongings. Chévez is the sixth media worker murdered in Honduras in ths last two months.

Reports estimate that of over 5000 police and military from all over the country have arrived in the valley of Aguán. There are over 3,500 families with women, children and elderly people who since last year have reclaimed land that was stolen or forcefully removed by the businessmen Miguel Facusse, René Morales and Reynaldo Canales.
