If you are going to have a web page, then you need a host. There are thousands of places that can host it for you. There are many places that will do it FREE! Whatever you decide, check the resources below for a start.

DOWNLOADS As you continue your webmastering abilities, you will start to put together a toolbox of programs that work for you. Here are some places to start your exploration.
3D Impact Pro - High quality 3D graphics are now easily created with 3D Impact Pro. Get a cup of coffee, it's a big download (11.5 MB).
Aardvark Pro - This program is full of helpful wizards that make HTML creation a breeze.
Alexa - This is a must have if for the novelty only. This program will give you stats and facts about practically every site you visit. Ever get a "404" and wish you could get a copy of the page? Alexa can retrieve a copy from it's archive.
AscToHTM - A text to HTML converter. If you have big text files, this is a must have..
Astound Webmotion - Want to create Java based animation for your website but aren't sure where to start? Try this. (5MB).
AolPress - A WYSIWYG web editor. It's pretty good and are you ready for this? It's from AOL. .
Browserola - This program emulates all the major browsers and how your web page will look in them.
Buttonz & Tilez - As the name implies, this freeware Win9x/NT 4 program creates buttons, tiles and textures. It even has batch processing.
BK ReplaceEm - Ever have to change the same text in multiple files on your site? Load all your files here and global search and replace is easily achieved.
Coffee Cup Image Mapper ++ - Some say this is the best Image Map tool available. It has wizards and testing in many types of browsers.
Color Manipulation Device - This handy little program helps in making browser safe color choices for your site.
CGI StarPro - Hate creating CGI? Don't know how to create CGI? Now you do. (1.2MB).
Cyberspyder - Use this handy program to check links on your site.
Debabelizer Pro - This program also creates browser safe colors plus there's a Mac version also.(3.3MB).
Eudora - Eudora Lite is free, the pro version is good for thirty days. This is probably the king of email clients.
GIF Construction Set - This wonderful package allows you to easily create animated GIFs. Plus it has wizards that help you. Very nice.
GIF Movie Gear - This program is easy to use and has many features like previewing, HTML generation and image optimization.
GIMP - It does just about everything that PhotoShop does, except it's FREE! There is a Windows 95 version in development. Oh yeah did we mention that it's FREE! (This version runs on LINUX only)
Homesite - Like creating pages but don't like messing with text editors? This is the program for you.
Hotdog 5 Webmaster Suite - The BIG DADDY of HTML creation. This program has been around for a while and is definitely worth having. It even does site analysis and DHTML generation now!
ImageDicer - This download is only .5 megs in size but it does a lot. It will take an image and split it into smaller chunks for re-arranging on a web page. It will generate the code also.
Ixsite Web Analyzer - This is a commercial demo program. It checks for broken links, maps your site showing the relationship between pages and the distance from one page to another. It deals with the structure of your site and is good for overall management.
Java Tools - There's a huge amount of tools here that deal specifically with Java.
JPEG Optimizer - A program that does as the name implies, it optimizes JPEGs.
Lview Pro - This is a great program. It can create contact sheets, slow slide shows of several images and more. Another must have for your collection. (1.3MB).
Linkbot - This is a demo program also. It checks the integrity of your site and reports broken links. When your site gets bigger, you'll need this.
Macromedia Dreamweaver - A very good WYSIWYG HTML editor. You can never go wrong with a Macromedia product.
Paint Shop Pro - Can't afford PhotoShop? Who can? Paint Shop Pro is very close. It does many things and comes in a pro version also.
Reptile - This program does a great job creating backgrounds.
SiteBoss - Yet another site management tool. A very good one too.
UltraEdit - This text editor can be used for manual coding of web pages. It colors HTML tags and more.WebExpress - Another WYSIWYG page creation system. Shareware.
Webtrends - If you have access to your logs then this is another must have utility. The demo is good for 14 days. It tells you EVERYTHING about the traffic on your site.
WebTV Simulator - A shareware package that shows you what your pages look like in WebTV.
WindowWatch - This little gem allows you to test your site using a variety of resolutions.
Xara 3D 2 - This program allows you to create animated and still logos in beautiful 3D. You can adjust practically every aspect such as bevel and font.
MAILING LIST SERVERS As your site grows, you may find it necessary to start a mailing list. This is not as difficult as it sounds. There are several services below that can help you.
EGroups - This service lets you run a free e-zine or mailing list (moderated or unmoderated) with an unlimited number of subscribers. You do have to put up with a two line advertisement at the bottom. A small price for the service you get.Eurofreebies Maillist - These folks will remotely host your mailing list. You can send a newsletter to people that sign up.
ListBot - This is a free service and highly recommended. You can send out one 10 KB message per day using this service. It has features not available in other list services.
Liszt - This is not a mailing list server, but a place to promote your mailing list once you have created one.
Mail Server - This is another free mailing service. Your site must display one banner for this service or you can pay a yearly fee.
OneList -Another mailing list. The only drawback to this one compared to others is that an ad does appear on every mailing.
